I remember visiting my Great gran Alice Bailey in the late 50s here she was in the middle one and only used two rooms downstairs, the front room contained a fire range with a little oven at the side where she cooked, And a settee where she slept I seem to remember it was gas lighting, but may be wrong. The kitchen was bare just a huge brown stone sink, used to go most weeks with my mum and gran. My great gran just used that one room, next door lived Mrs ? Who was my great uncles mother, her name escapes me at the moment, but there was an inter connecting door between the two cottages, covered with a curtain, they would I think have both been in their 80s. I am now 65 but remember Mrs ? Taking me outside in the garden it was a new moon and she turned a silver coin over in her palm and made a wish, I have never forgotten that! I was fascinated. Her name was Mrs Flynn.
