This is the gravestone of John Flinn and Elizabeth (nee Dexter) Flinn. They were the parents of Martha D Flinn, 1853, (buried Smalley), Mary Flinn, 1855 who married George Stevenson and lived in Moor End, John Flinn (1857), William Flinn (1858), Caroline Flinn (1859), married Frederick Hastings and lived in Moor End, Elizabeth Flinn (1863),married Henry Richardson lived in Smalley, William Dexter Flinn (1865), married Fanny Horsley lived in Smalley, George Flinn (1867) married Ada Wiltshire lived in Moor End.

Elizabeth died in Spondon and at the time was living in a house on Merchant Avenue.
John Flinn lived on a farm in Denby in 1901. He died in 1904. He was buried in Spondon cemetery, I would presume the burial was paid for by the Hastings family.

Their many children lived in both Spondon and Smalley. My husband's great grand-father was William Dexter Flinn who was baptised at St Werburghs and lived in Smalley in later life.
