Church Street Stores Door

Dated: July 2011

This advert for Weston's Quality Biscuits may date from 1922 when they were introduced to this country by Willard Garfield Weston, son of Toronto baker George Weston.  W G Weston had been stationed here in 1914-18 war and noted the possibility of buying English biscuit-making machinery and producing "fancy" biscuits for sale here.  The Company was very large in Canada, where his father had started as a baker, buying delivery rounds from his employer, and growing rapidly to be a major bread supplier.
