Lodge Lane
Dated: 2014
View up Lodge Lane from its junction with Derby Road, Nottingham Road and Station Road. The unusual building on the left is a former bank. This was built on the site of the late 18th century thatched cottage called 'The Lodge' which was demolished February 1929. The Westminster Bank announced in October of the same year in the Derby Daily Telegraph that they would be erecting a branch office on the site. This opened in May 1930. The Westminster Bank merged with the National Provincial Bank IN 1968 to form NatWest Bank. This NatWest branch closed in 1995 and was purchased and converted into a residential property.
