The Lodge

The Lodge which was located at the junction of Lodge Lane with Derby Road/Nottingham Road and Station Road. Built in the late 18th Century it was demolished early 1929. The site was then used to build a branch of the Westminster Bank which opened in May 1930. This image is taken from a colourised postcard in the Society's archive collection (Ref 11859). It was postally used on 4th Sept 1906 and features an Edward VII ½d stamp franked by Spondon PO. Sender was E.S.H. of Spondon Hall and sent to a lady in London SW.
