'Relief of Mafeking' event, 1900

The seige of Mafeking lasted 215 days during the Boer War. British Forces, led by General Robert Baden-Powell, were relieved on May 17th and Spondon held a commemorative event. The scene is pictured on the corner of Church Hill and Potter Street and captures the Boer flag being burnt.
