Prospect house is thought to
Prospect house is thought to date back to the 1780s and it is understood that it was used as some of Customs and Excise house with Brandy and Liquor being stored in the large vaulted cellars. During the mid 1800s the house, adjoining cottage and the clad cottage were purchased by the Holbrook sisters who ran a private day and boarding school there for approximately 20 years. Architectural historians have suggested that the cellars could pre-date the existing house. The original property had a much larger garden with an orchard - remnants of this are still visible in the various apple trees dotted around the gardens backing onto the property.
